Happy Friday! We were so happy to have everyone back from spring break and hope that everyone was able to find some rest during that time. We can't believe quarter 4 is already one week down and it was wonderful getting to see you all during parent teacher conferences on Wednesday! Here are a few updates and reminders:
- Science Fair = Please check in with your child about their science fair project idea. The proposal document is due Monday, April 25th. - Vaccine Cards = When your student is fully vaccinated, you can submit a picture of the vaccine card to have on record by emailing a copy to Nurse Annie --> [email protected] - Mask Optional starting Monday, March 14th = The only students who will be required to wear masks will be those returning from a quarantine from having Covid or being exposed for days 6-10. Students who are exposed, even if they are fully vaccinated without exhibiting any symptoms, will have to mask through day 10. An email will be sent if your child needs to do so. - Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) & Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) = If your child missed any of the IAR tests, they will begin make-up testing in the next week. - Quarter 4 = As we begin quarter 4 after break, we are hoping to end the year with the best work completion yet! We will be continuing to have students check Aspen weekly and encouraging them to be turning in missing work sooner than later. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We have been working on our magazine projects and finished peer conferencing! - ELA (217) = We have been learning about text features and have started to pick topics for our new project! - SS = We have been working on our Unit 5 projects! - Math (201) = This week we continued to investigate three-dimensional shapes like cubes and rectangular prisms. We reviewed how to find volume and learned how to calculate surface area for these shapes. Next week, we will have a quiz and finish the unit with a project on "re-designing" a box. - Math (217) = This week we became garden designers and worked on a scale drawing of a garden design for our client based off her requirements. We also finished the scale drawing unit project. We will start our next unit next week, which is all about ratios and proportions. - Science = This week we studied the scientific method in preparation for choosing projects for the Science Fair. Project proposal forms were sent home and need to be completed by Monday, April 25th. This form is where each student will describe the project they will be completing for the 5th Grade Science Fair. We hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend! Mrs. Kovar & Mrs. Parsons
