- Monday, May 30th = NO School - Memorial Day - Science Fair = Please check in with your child about their science fair project. All students have been given their Science Fair board and should be finalizing putting their information on the board. Final projects are due June 1st. Please join us for the 5th grade Science Fair on Friday, June 3rd at 8:45 am in the Multipurpose Room. - Ukulele Performance = Please join us for the 5th grade Ukulele Performance on Thursday, June 9th. More details about this are forthcoming. - Missing Work = The last day that we will be accepting missing work or test corrections for the 4th quarter is Wednesday, June 8th. - Quarter 4 = We are continuing to have students check Aspen weekly and encouraging them to be turning in missing work sooner than later. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We have been working on analyzing poems! - ELA (217) = We officially finished our magazine projects! - SS = We have been learning about how the government impacts our lives today! - Math (201) = We have been solving problems with percentages, percents of a number, and tax, tip and discount problems. We also are creating our own Esti-Mystery presentations - ask to solve your child's project! - Math (217) = We have been solving problems with prisms and finding volume and surface area. We also are creating our own Esti-Mystery presentations - ask to solve your child's project! - Science = This week we continued our Sexual Health unit. We discussed ways to communicate and how to use assertive communication when we feel peer pressure. **The 5th grade Science Fair is Friday, June 3rd! Happy Friday! How is it almost the end of May?! We cannot believe that there are only 4 weeks left of school! Here are a few updates and reminders for next week:
- End Of Year Star 360 = Students will be taking the end of year Star 360 assessment for reading and math on May 25th and 26th. - Science Fair = Please check in with your child about their science fair project. We will be working on putting together our Science Fair Boards this week. Final projects are due May 31st. Please join us for the 5th grade Science Fair on Friday, June 3rd at 8:45 am in the Multipurpose Room. - Ukulele Performance = Please join us for the 5th grade Ukulele Performance on Thursday, June 9th. Component #2 is due this Friday, May 20th (data and conclusion) and should be typed on the same google document as Component #1 in Google Classroom. As of now, the final board will be due May 31st.
The science fair is planned for June 3rd in the MPR. Parents are welcome to come view projects starting at 8:45. Projects will then be judged by middle school students. Happy Friday! We have really been so grateful for all the appreciation this week and are so sad thinking about how little time we have left together. The class had a chance to redesign/repurpose a box after finding the volume and surface area of it. We looked at how data is compared in different comparison statements and were introduced to the strategies of using proportions and rate tables to solve problems. - Science = This week we started our Sexual Health unit. The classes learned about the DECIDE decision-making steps and about changes that will happen during puberty. We also finished the scale drawing unit project.
