Happy Friday! Happy March! We hope everyone enjoyed the first few days of nice weather! Here are a few updates and reminders for next week:
- Vaccine Cards = When your student is fully vaccinated, you can submit a picture of the vaccine card to have on record by emailing a copy to Nurse Annie --> [email protected] - Progress Reports = Third quarter progress reports were sent home today, Friday, March 4th. - Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) = A report from last year is going home (if we received one from the office). We are scheduled to begin this year's IAR assessment the week of March 14th. - Spring Sports = Remember to sign up for soccer, flag football, or track and field if your child is interested! - Quarter 3 = As we are halfway through the quarter, we are continuing to have students check Aspen weekly and encourage them to be turning in missing work sooner than later. We are hoping to have a better quarter in regards to work completion. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We have been working on determining the main idea and supporting details of an informational text. We have also been seeing how to use that information to create a summary. - ELA (217) = We have been focusing this week on comparing and contrasting perspectives. We have also been working on determining the theme of our novel and of short passages. - SS = We are officially learning about the start of the Revolutionary War! We have been learning about the Battle of Lexington and Concord as well as the Battle of (not) Bunker Hill. - Math (201) = We started looking at area and perimeter of rectangles this week by designing bumper car designs and storm shelters. We will continue this topic next week! - Math (217) = We began a new unit this week on similar figures. We are trying to discover what it means to be mathematically similar. The students created some game characters called the Wumps and we are trying to determine which characters are part of the Wump family. - Science = We started our last chapter in this unit this week and will be studying what happens when liquids are mixed with other liquids. We will be exploring what the molecules of different liquids do in mixtures. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Mrs. Kovar & Mrs. Parsons
