Happy Friday! Happy February! We had a great full week together! We are so proud of all of our band friends for a wonderful first concert this week! Here are a few updates and reminders for next week:
- Vaccine Cards = When your student is fully vaccinated, you can submit a picture of the vaccine card to have on record by emailing a copy to both Nurse Annie and Nurse Megan --> [email protected] & [email protected] - Report Cards for Quarter 2 = Report cards are going home today including a copy of our winter Star 360 scores. We encourage everyone to scan the QR code at the bottom to help learn more about the scores. - G&L Unit 6 Test = Wednesday, February 9th - Masks = Two KN95 masks have gone home with all of your students that were provided from CPS - Monday, February 14th - Valentine's Day = Students have the option to hand out Valentine's Day cards (or non-food items) at the end of day. We will also do a small activity to celebrate the holiday. If your child decides to hand out valentines, please ensure they have enough for the whole class! - New Quarter = As we start the new quarter, we are continuing to have students check Aspen weekly and encourage them to be turning in missing work sooner than later. We are hoping to have a better quarter in regards to work completion. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We have been working on problem/solution situations and analyzing character traits while reading our novel. - ELA (217) = We have officially finished writing our argumentative essays! - SS =We conducted a tax simulation activity and then presented in a "Colony Town Hall" about topics to decide if we should comply, oppose, or rebel! - Math (201) = Students have spent the week learning how to divide fractions. We learned two different strategies and had the opportunity to practice both. Ask you student about KCF! - Math (217) = We are continuing our geometry unit and have been exploring the properties of polygons and their angles. This week we learned an interesting fact about triangles and its side lengths. Ask your student what is necessary to "build a triangle." - Science = In our role as food scientists, we have been looking at the properties of molecules. We started the second chapter, where we will investigate what is necessary to create a new salad dressing that does not separate and does not contain sediment. This week we explored what happens when a solid mixes with a liquid. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Mrs. Kovar & Mrs. Parsons
