Happy almost Halloween!! We have had a great day in costumes and enjoyed some time to celebrate together as a class. There is only one week before the end of the first quarter. As we get into week 10, here are a few reminders:
- Missing Assignments = All quarter 1 assignment that have not been turned in are due by Monday, November 1. - End of Quarter 1 = Thursday, November 4th - Math Test (217) = Variables & Patterns unit math test is Tuesday, November 2nd. - Greek & Latin Test = Unit 3 test for Greek and Latin will be on Wednesday, November 3rd. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! - Missing Work = We have been working with students to see what work is missing and are encouraging them to keep completing and turning in work. If you see half the points as a grade in Aspen, that signifies that the work is missing. Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We started our new Greek & Latin roots unit and officially finished our class novel. All students did a fantastic job presenting the final projects! - ELA (217) = We started our new Greek & Latin roots unit. We finished learning about point of view and perspective and have started learning more about theme. - SS = We learned about ancient civilizations, their accomplishments and their methods for innovation. - Math (201) = We reviewed multiplying by multi-digit numbers and began our second math unit called, Comparing Bits & Pieces. The students started looking at equivalent fractions. We also presented the math projects, My Favorite Number. - Math (217) = We learned about inequalities and how to write, graph and solve them. We also practiced evaluating expressions to prepare for the unit test on Tuesday. - Science = . We started answering the Chapter 3 question, do we see different stars at different times of the year. We planned an investigation to do in the Simulator and added to the Mt. Nose class model. Be sure to ask your students about the difference between the earth's rotation and orbit!
