Happy happy Friday! Wow - four weeks done! We can't believe it was this week that we lost power since it feels like forever ago. This next week brings us into the middle of the quarter which we can't believe is already here! Here are a few reminders going into next week:
- Math Quiz (201) = Tuesday, September 28th - Independent Reading Assessments = Due Thursday, September 30th - Wordly Wise Unit 2 Test = Friday, October 1st - Progress Reports Come Out = Friday, October 1st - Math Quiz (217) = Friday, October 1st - Virtual Curriculum Night = Monday, October 4th from 6:00 - 6:45pm. We will send out the link as we get closer! - Personal Devices = We highly encourage students to NOT bring their personal devices to school. If a student has a Smart Watch, they cannot use the communication features in school. Please remind them of this. - Graded Assignments = Many graded assignments have started to go home with students. If a student received a STAR next to their grade, they are able to (and encouraged) to resubmit their work. They do this by correcting the answer on a SEPARATE sheet of paper, not on the actual assignment, and then bring both sheets together to the correct teacher. The incorrect work will be circled on the assignment. If something has a 1/2 off, your child should know from the teacher if it was a spelling or form error or something else. If they do this and get those answers correct, they can earn up to half the points they missed back. - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We started our next unit of Wordly Wise and have started working on the topic of summarizing chapters in our novel. - ELA (217) = We started our next unit of Wordly Wise and finished up reading another story where we focused on making inferences. We started our novel as well! - SS = We finished our community and identity unit and did a fantastic job of presenting our projects! - Math (201) = We have been learning about greatest common factor and least common multiple. We solved word problems using those strategies. - Math (217) = We learned about four quadrant graphs and have started learning the differences between expressions and equations. We will continue to work on writing and solving equations next week! - Science = We are continuing to answer "Why don't we see a lot of stars in the daytime?" and we started a research project about stars, moons, and galaxies. Happy fall and happy weekend to you all! Thank you, Mrs. Kovar & Mrs. Parsons
