Happy Friday! We can't believe next week will be April! Only 2 weeks until spring break! Here are a few updates and reminders for next week:
- Vaccine Cards = When your student is fully vaccinated, you can submit a picture of the vaccine card to have on record by emailing a copy to Nurse Annie --> [email protected] - Mask Optional starting Monday, March 14th = The only students who will be required to wear masks will be those returning from a quarantine from having Covid or being exposed for days 6-10. Students who are exposed, even if they are fully vaccinated without exhibiting any symptoms, will have to mask through day 10. An email will be sent if your child needs to do so. - Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) = We finished taking this as a class and make-up testing will begin soon! - Text Structure Quiz (201) *rescheduled* = Tuesday, March 29th - GUM Unit 4 Test = Thursday, March 31st - Independent Reading Assessment = due Thursday, March 31st - Science Unit Test for Modeling Matter (201) = Tuesday, March 29th - Bullying Prevention Unit = Our school's Culture & Climate Team has been looking for a new SEL curriculum. As a school wide initiative, the middle school has started to pilot a program that we are now going to start using in 5th grade. - Quarter 3 = As we are nearing the end of the quarter, we are continuing to have students check Aspen weekly and encourage them to be turning in missing work sooner than later. We are hoping to have a better quarter in regards to work completion. - Missing Work = We will be accepting late work through Wednesday, April 6th - Math Facts = Remember to practice your multiplication facts regularly up to 12! Here are some academic updates from this past week: - ELA (201) = We started our new writing project and picked our topics! - ELA (217) = We have been working on determining the main idea and supporting details! - SS = We have been learning about the different fighters in the American Revolution. - Math (201) = Next week we will be learning about area and perimeter of parallelograms. - Math (217) = Next week we will be finishing our unit on simlar figures by looking at how ratios can be used to solve these types of problems. - Science = We are finishing up our Element project and will be creating a 5th grade class display of all the elements.
